I did not get to play with this much it was a xmas gift but the trick to throwing it is keep it level and do not spin it. I put my thumb in the center back of the ball and try to push it with my thumb as straight as possible with no spin. It will usually come back to you. Good luck you will need itBought one for my grandson and liked it enough to get one for myself. Takes a while to get hang of it. Only reason i didn't give 5 stars is that the charge last only 6 mins. So you cant play with it long.I bought this to just play around with myself. Something fun my co-workers and I could toss around. Boy, was I disappointed! It feels like it could break if you squeezed it too hard, which I could live with, but it ran out of juice after just 5 minutes! That's a lot of money for 5 minutes of fun!! Not worth it for that!!I loved it myself. I’m 61. I got for one of my grandson’s and he loved it .Fun to play within. Does take some practice. But worth it.There is no way to stop the ball after it starts spinning, activation button and charging port are located behind the plastic cage, and to access them you need to suffer every time. But the biggest issue is that it is not intuitive at all which side is up and down and I'm pretty sure that the first time you throw it it will hit the ground with extra force. The sides of the ball look pretty durable but it has 2 non-protected 'weak spots' on the top and bottom and mine broke after 2-n or 3rd throw.My kids loved it, even though it was a little difficult to figure out how to use.Great gift kids loved it
